This is the Artspace Blog for Snap Shots, Aviation High School's photography collective.
During the course of the school year, students at Aviation High School will meet twice a week to learn about and create photographs that address a variety of issues. Students will learn about photo collectives, such as Magnum and VII, and how they function. Emphasis will be placed on cooperation and the importance of multiple perspectives on topics. The school year will be divided up into 2-3 week segments. Each segment will have a theme around which master works will be presented, media studied and photos created. At the end of each segment, the collective will curate a selection of their work to be displayed on the weblog.
Students will be thinking about such questions as;
Where do I see photos in everyday life and how do they affect me?
Can photographs affect change?
How can I use photography as a voice for expression?
